Design Process Overview
The flow chart below illustrates Design & Product Foundry Support's role in the basic chip design/layout flow.
Design & Product Foundry Support's Role
Design & Product Foundry Support (DPFS) plays several very important roles:
- Customer assistance with design
- Customer interface and stewardship for transfer and fabrication of design, including mask creation
- Product engineering support (e.g. yield, characterization, qualification)

Our support team, expert in all aspects of chip design using the DALSA Semiconductor cell libraries, can work with you or for you to complete a product development.
Mask Data Preparation
| More Information... |
| Data Preparation details |
- Customer and Foundry communicate re: data preparation
- Customer sends design to foundry (email, ftp, or tape); foundry receives and manages data
- Foundry creates Scribe Channel and adds Manufacturing Keys
- Foundry generates mask & new layer
- Foundry prepares PG Tape (Biasing, Merging)
- Foundry has mask generated
At this point photolithography can begin. For more information, visit the Mask Data Preparation page.
Communication
Good customer-foundry communication is vital to successful fabrication, and DALSA Semiconductor is pround of our abilities and reputation. In addition to telephone, fax, email, and in-person channels, we offer a secure online interface that allows you to check and review lot status, history and all design document details.
In addition, DALSA Semiconductor can provide all the associated data required for product manufacture. Probe cards, test machine load boards, package selection, assembly diagrams etc. can be prepared to enable a smooth transition to a complete product.
